New Feature in Google Maps: What is the Weather and Air Quality Feature?
Are you curious about the weather and air quality before you go out? Now it’s easy with Google Maps! With this feature, you can learn about:
- Heat:Current temperature and expected high and low temperatures throughout the day
- Weather:Current weather conditions such as rain, snow, sun etc.
- Air Quality:Air quality index and which pollutants dominate
- Wind:Wind speed and direction
- Moisture:relative humidity
You can also see hourly forecasts and 10-day forecasts. You can detail the weather information for the location you want by clicking the Weather tab.
How to Access Google Maps Weather and Air Quality Function
It is very easy to access the “Weather and Air Quality” feature offered by Google Maps. To access this feature, you can follow these steps:
- Open Google Maps App:As a first step, you need to open the Google Maps app on your smartphone or tablet.
- Tap the Location Icon:Tap the location icon in the top left corner. It looks like a circular arrow and represents your location.
- Select Weather Option:Tap the location icon and a menu will open. Click on Weather from this menu.
- View Weather and Air Quality Information:When you tap the Weather option, the weather and air quality information of the place you want to go will automatically be displayed. This information includes details such as current temperature, daily highest and lowest temperature, weather forecast, air quality, wind speed, humidity.
- View Hourly and 10-Day Forecasts:To do this, simply tap the “Hourly” or “10-Day” tabs at the bottom of the screen.
- Detail Weather Information for Your Desired Location:You can click on the Weather tab to see detailed weather information for your desired location. This way, you can get more detailed information.

Can Google Maps’ Weather and Air Quality Feature Be Used in Turkey?
Thanks to this new feature offered by Google Maps, users will be able to easily learn the weather conditions and air quality in the region. In particular, this feature will be quite useful to access 12-hour forecasts in the region.
To add air quality index data to the map, users can use the “Layer” option. However, this feature is not yet active in Turkey and some other regions. Google is expected to offer this feature to more countries.

- Red:Air quality is poor.

How Can I See Weather and Air Quality Information for a Different Location?
By using the “Weather and Air Quality” feature on Google Maps, you can get information about the weather and air quality of the place you want to go. To do this, enter the location where you want to see weather information in the search bar.
You can enter a location name, postal code, or address. Then tap the search icon on the right side of the search bar. Select the location you want in the search results and the weather and air quality information for that location will automatically be displayed.
